Dr. Morice’s tubal reversal procedure is named microsurgical tubal renastomosis. This procedure is done under a microscope and requires a meticulous and talented surgeon. The high pregnancy success rates of Dr. Morice’s patients are directly related to his skilled techniques perfected from years of tubal reversal experience.
1) An experienced anesthesiologist will anesthetize you prior to your surgery.
2) The surgery is then performed using a microscope. Using meticulous care, Dr. Morice will remove the blocked segments of the fallopian tubes and re-connect the remaining segments (re-anastomosis). This is done using a very fine stitch, which will absorb naturally into your body as the tubes heal.
3) Dye is then run through the fallopian tubes and uterus to ensure the tube segments have been successfully sutured together.
4) Once this is confirmed, absorbable stitches are used to close up the initial incision and you are awoken by the anesthesiologist and taken to recovery.
Most patients can expect to have very mild discomfort for 1-3 days after the surgery and will fully recover within 1-2 weeks. Patients are able to bathe 48 hours after the procedure, but need to avoid strenuous activity for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, most patients can resume their normal activities. Your stitches will dissolve naturally.
