Success Rate

Due to his years of experience and modern microsurgery techniques, Dr Morice is able to report high pregnancy success rates for his patients. Dr Morice’s tubal reversal surgeries have an impressive overall pregnancy success rate between 70% and 80%.

It is important to remember, however, that tubal reversal success varies with each individual. Some factors that influence a patient’s chances of getting pregnant after a tubal reversal are:

  • Age: Generally, the younger the patient is, the higher their chance of getting pregnant is after a tubal reversal surgery. Success rates in young, healthy patients after a tubal reversal surgery are around 90%.
  • Medical history and current medical conditions: If a patient has a history of an ovulation disorder, medical illness (such as PCOS, endometriosis, or diabetes), or partner issue (such as low sperm count), these can negatively impact a patient’s chances of getting pregnant.
  • Type of tubal ligation previously performed and skill of your tubal reversal surgeon: The type of ligation previously performed determines how much of the patient’s fallopian tubes remain for the surgeon to operate on. This is where having an experienced surgeon, such as Dr Morice, perform your reversal becomes very important. The skill of the surgeon to save the remaining tubes and re-attach them is a large determinate in a successful pregnancy after tubal reversal

Many patients are interested in tubal reversal surgery but are unsure if they are good candidates. We offer free consultations to answer any questions and determine if you are a good candidate for a tubal ligation reversal. Along with reviewing your medical history and any current conditions, Dr Morice will look at the operative and pathology report from your tubal ligation to estimate how much of your fallopian tubes is left (although he will not know for sure until the surgery is performed). Dr Morice will then determine if you are a good candidate for the surgery. If it appears that you are not a good candidate for tubal reversal, Dr Morice will discuss other alternatives with you.
